Hello Tom,

We want to use pin 36 and 37 for step dir. The docs say that is axis 4.

So in config and setup do I set output channel 4?

Thanks,

Brad Murry

Hi Brad,

Isnt it 0 - 1 - 2 - 3?

Hope this works now with Yahoo as I have had a lot of problems for the last 24h

Cheers
Bengt

Hello Bengt,

Yep, I do want to use axis channel 0, but not sure about the output channels.

For example, I had to use output channels 8,9 and 10 on my personal machine because the drives I am using are expecting an LVTTL signal.

Using those channels translated to pins 15-20 on JP7.

I guess I am not clear how the input/output bits on the config screen relate to physical pins on various connectors.

Thanks,
Brad Murry

Hi Brad,

The OutputChan0 setting on the Config Screen is not selecting pins or bits.  Rather it is selecting which Step/Dir hardware generator to be used which in turn is associated with specific Pins.  Maybe this will help:

But Yes - OutputChan0=4 will drive Output bits 36 and 37 in open collector mode.

More info here:

Hello Tom,

Thanks that diagram is excellent, sorry for not taking a better look.

On power up now the kflop thinks every axis is encoder and my position counters go crazy.

Thats not a real big deal as nothing is actually hooked up to them.

I am having an issue where once I enable the axis channel 0 I can no longer manipulate the bits 36 and 37 in the digital IO screen.

thoughts...?

Thanks,
Brad Murry

Hello Tom,

Looks like there was another axis channel that was using generator 4.

Reconfigured other channels and works well.

Thanks,
Brad Murry
